Tomorrow we begin grade-level assessments as required by the state of Missouri.  This task is designed to help schools identify the knowledge and skills of their students.  What questions, concerns, or comments do you have or would you like to make about these assessments.  Please post a comment before going to recess today.  We will discuss these before going home.

I am really excited to begin our testing. I think that you will find it much less stressful since we will only be testing around an hour a day. There will be different types of testing questions, some will be multiple choice or constructed response. In addition, each test (Communication Arts and Math) will have one performance event. You are going to do awesome! Remember to get a good night’s sleep tonight, eat a good breakfast, and come to school tomorrow with a positive attitude.

Why does this score you get on the map test not go on your grade card?

  11. mhayter Says:

Try not to think of it as hard. I am sure that there will be some questions that will be easier than others.

  12. mhayter Says:

Fortunately, we only take the MAP once a year! Try to have a positive attitude and be sure to have a good book handy to read when you finish.

  25. mhayter Says:

I am not sure how many specific questions, but just one section is timed.

  26. mhayter Says:

Think positive. It may not be as fun as recess, but aren’t you eager to show what you know?

  27. mhayter Says:

I think you might like having it spread out. I don’t think you will get as tired and I am hoping to see some great scores!

  28. mhayter Says:

I don’t know what exactly Mrs. Woods’ class has planned. I bet they do something to encourage us. Have you seen the banner out in the hallway?

  29. mhayter Says:

There will be some homework. Probably in math. I don’t think the testing will be as long or as exhausting as it was last year. You will do fine!

  30. mhayter Says:

I promise not to leave anyone in the bathroom!

  31. mhayter Says:

Around an hour a day. Much less than last year.

    About an hour each day.

  33. mhayter Says:

I don’t think so. About the same.

  34. mhayter Says:

    Yes.

  35. mhayter Says:

I don’t think it will be as bad as you expect. Try to have a positive outlook!

  36. mhayter Says:

I don’t think so. It is probably about the same.

  37. mhayter Says:

We will spend three mornings this week doing the Communication Arts MAP assessment and three mornings next week doing the Math MAP assessment. That is a total of six days!

  38. mhayter Says:

One session of each test is timed.

  39. mhayter Says:

The score is not used as a grade, but lets us know how well you have mastered the skills and knowledge that you have been taught. It is kind of confusing.
